How is a hologram made?
Holograms are made in a laboratory using laser light, advanced optics, and photosensitive film.
Holographers record the direction light travels as it is reflected off
on object. This process is called mastering.
How much does a custom hologram master cost?
One-time setup costs for a quality hologram start at $3,500 but can increase depending
on the type and subject matter.
What options are available other than mastering a custom hologram?
Stock holographic images are available that can be customized to meet project goals.
Options include, custom converting, overprinting, and image alteration.
What kind of artwork should I supply?
Holograms can be made from photos, flat art, models and common objects.
All artwork must be of a 1:1 ratio. Holographic Design provides art
direction which is included in the mastering costs. Once the hologram is made, a new
hologram must be made to enlarge or reduce the image.
How large can the image be made?
Holograms have been made up to 3' x 6' for display purposes. However,
the majority of holograms that are made are embossed holograms. This
format generally has a maximum size of 6"x 6". Larger sizes are available
at additional cost.

What are the different types of holograms?
In the commerical world, there are generally, three types of holograms.
Film holograms are used for displays. Photopolymer holograms are used
for displays, promotions, labels, and decoration. Embossed holograms
are most common. They are used for security, labels, packaging, and
display purposes.
How are embossed hologram made?
Embossed holograms are made pressing a holographic image into a plastic
substrate. The hologram master is transferred to a metal plate and pressed
into the plastic surface with heat and pressure. The most common carrier
is metalized polyester.
What is a minimum production run?
Holographic Design, Inc. doesn't require minimums. We offer a varity of
solutions to your holographic needs.
What is the cost per unit?
Unit cost is determined by hologram type, size, and quantity. Small embossed
hologram cost just pennies per unit, in volume.
Can a hologram be applied to a ...?
Holographic Design, Inc. has been provided application solutions to a
wide variety of products, including our patented process for application
to apparel.
Applications include: Apparel, shoes, bags, hats, books, magazines, bottles, boxes, glasses, windshields,
cards, and many other products.
